The Outer Banks campground might’ve been the best campground yet. With both an indoor and an outdoor pool, direct beach access and basketball, it has a case for the top campground ahead of Tucson. The only downside of this is that we had to cross a 45 MPH road to get to the other side of the campground where all of these fun things were. On the first full day, we hung out at the trailer, I played some basketball, and we went swimming altogether in the indoor pool. After this, we ate lunch and relaxed for a couple of hours and Mom went grocery shopping. Once Mom got back, we headed to the beach. The spot was very pristine and the waves were good. Zina and I had a lot of fun charging into the waves. After this, we ate dinner with Rachel and Nielsen and their baby boy Beckham (The Lundgrens). Beckham is only 10mo old, but he is large for his age and full of energy. The following day, we had church at 10:00. The Sacrament meeting was nice and uneventful, and we made it on time to get the Sacrament. Our Sunday School teachers taught the doctrine well, but it was almost as if they were blatantly mocking the youth in the class and it was not a great environment for sharing. After church, we went home and ate some lunch, and then hung out with the Lundgrens. At about 3, Beckham was tired and ready for his nap, so we said goodbye and relaxed until the Lundgrens came back after Beckham’s nap. We gathered everybody up and headed to the beach. Beckham LOVED the water and was always trying to get to it, even after he was wrapped up in a towel. After the beach, we ate a dinner of salmon and talked until Beckham grew tired. That summed up our Sunday and we then went to bed.

The next day, we started slow but after Myra and Zina finished our school, we went to the site of the first flight. We had the opportunity to learn more about the engineering of the first planes and the childhood of Wilbur and Orville Wright. They had a good childhood and were always tinkering and trying to figure out how things were built. Their Dad purchased them a toy that was a propeller powered by a rubber band. After playing with it, they took it apart to see how it worked and how to put it back together. This story is a testament to their mindset and determination to be the first in flight. After looking around the museum and field, we decided that it was time for lunch at the Blue Moon. I had the fish and chips, and it was very good. Beckham tried a lemon and loved it, to all of our surprise. It was a good meal. Following lunch, Beckham had another nap and we headed back to the trailer and hung out until the Lundgrens came back to go to the beach. Beckham had a great time, regardless of the fact that he got doused fully in the cold ocean water. Neilsen taught me how to bodysurf, and it was a lot of fun, although I always got sucked underwater and started spinning. I hope that I will be able to improve my technique at the other coastal stops. After the beach, we watched the Celtics blow a 20-point lead to lose in OT and ate some dinner. That sums up our entire stay in OBX. Next: Petersburg, VA. Overall Rating: 9.2/10.
