I am not sure if I mentioned it previously but before we left I asked my dad for a father’s blessing. By the power of the priesthood he blessed me that I would feel Heavenly Father’s love and that He would watch over us throughout our time away from home. He also blessed me that Heavenly Father would take care of the difficult things and that as I worked and planned that everything would fall into place so I could be calm and enjoy the time with the family. As we have traveled I have been so grateful for that blessing. I can see those blessings actively in our life on the road. One of the ways in which I have decided that I “Hear Him”, those messages from the Holy Ghost, is confidence in moving forward on a specific path.
Our trailer has an electronic leveling system and it has been heavily used as we set up and tear down about twice a week on this trip. The front jacks take a lot of weight as we get the trailer on and off the truck. The first one failed back in April. I wrote about those miracles in the “Light” section of the blog but today it would take too long for me to remember how to post there so I will just post our “Light” here. The second one failed last week. The failure was not quite so catastrophic but we knew we needed to get it fixed ASAP.
Our original travel plan was to spend three nights near the New Hampshire/Vermont border to see Joseph Smith’s birthplace and take it easy while David and I recovered from our 2nd shingles shot (specifically scheduled for a time where we didn’t have much planned.) When we got to the campground I had booked it was obvious that we couldn’t stay there (more on that later). We ended up in a very nice campground and I was going to ask if we could stay an additional night but that didn’t feel right as I was waiting for the office to open so I could ask. So, I called our next booked campground and asked if we could come in a couple of days early. They said we could so we packed up and moved to the next campground, babying the jack (more on that later too!)
When we arrived at the campground we got the business cards of three techs that work on trailers in the park. One particular card stood out to me and though we called a couple, it was that business that we ended up working with. It took a bit to work out the details. If we had not come straight to the new campground I don’t believe the problem could have been resolved in the time we had before we needed to move on. I was able to share this story of miracles with the wife of the technician (she handles all the paperwork) who is a person of faith. I just know Heavenly Father is blessing us according to that blessing I received.
