Key Largo was a much needed break after Disney. We went on several tours to get more familiar with the unique landscape of the Everglades. The first tour that we went on was a van tour where we got out at several stops and walked around each trail for about an hour. Our tour guide was very sweet and knew everything about the Everglades. That wrapped up our first full day in the Keys. The next day, we woke up late, finished school for the day, and drove over to the dock area that had the boat that we would be snorkeling from. Snorkeling is a very unique experience, and you have to be very calm to do it. We saw a wide variety of very intriguing wildlife on the reef, and our captain and 1st mate were very helpful and patient with all of us. After snorkeling, we went home, ate dinner, and headed to bed. The following day was a rest day for the most part, but after staying in for the morning, we had the opportunity to meet and observe several bottlenose dolphins. It was very fascinating to see the staff communicating with all of the dolphins and having fun with them. After this, we all showered and went to shell world; a souvenir store. Zina was very excited and found a beautiful shell to take home. After purchasing the items, we kicked back and relaxed for the rest of the day, and fed fish with a very friendly full-time neighbor. On the proceeding day, the main thing on the agenda was a kayaking tour. Our guide was a very cool person and said, “I had to retire to find my dream job.” He loves doing what he does and was able to help us navigate the complex and narrow stretches of Mangroves. At the halfway point of our kayak adventure, Myra, Zina and I got out of our kayaks, climbed up a tree, and jumped into the water below. It was a blast, but I slightly regretted it later because my skin started to chafe.

For dinner that night, we were blessed with the chance to eat at Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill. It had some amazing food, a picturesque view, and live performances. The Keys was an amazing experience, and I would try to live here if not for the humidity, Overall Rating: 9.1/10
Wow!! If I’m not mistaken, that is Will’s highest score so far. The everglades! Who knew? I think jumping off that tree looks worth it, even with the chafing 🙂
