Space Center and General Conference notes – The Kennedy space center was a very wholesome and educational experience. It featured loads of family friendly attractions, including recaps of our past space expeditions, goals for the future, and current progress being made on the exploration of the universe. It was quite unfortunate that our jack died here, keeping us from another day at the space center. In the Saturday morning session of the conference, my favorite message of all of the sessions was given by Jeffrey R. Holland. It touched my heart to think of the boy who worked so hard despite his challenges to present the holy sacrament to his father, the bishop. I think that we can all learn from people like that; people who will always be doing the lord’s work despite their daily struggles. I also learned a lot from Elder McCune’s talk about callings. I love the quote “When you are in the service of your fellow man, you are only in the service of your god.” Callings are opportunities to connect with and serve your heavenly brothers and sisters. I hope that all of this boundary changing will get us a temple soon. Thanks for reading. On to Savannah! P.S. Great Job Nigel, it is my dream one day to sing at General Conference!

Charleston, SC/Savannah, GA – Savannah and Charleston was a nice, short, fun stop with lots of great education. It was a saddening experience to learn about our country’s dark past with slavery and all that lead up to the Civil War. Right next to the exhibit of the war, there was an aquarium. The first thing that we saw when we walked in was a bald eagle which had flown directly into a power line, mangling her wing, however she seemed quite content and happy to be cared for at the facility. After checking out and reading about the rest of the animals, we hopped on a boat to go to Fort Sumter, where the Civil War began. Myra, Zina, Mom and I had the opportunity to help lower an enormous American flag with 33 stars on it. The Civil War claimed the lives of over 700,000 Americans, and I’m glad that we have made a lot of progress against racial discrimination. In Savannah, we went on a very comical and informative trolley ride through the downtown of the city. Our trolley driver also owns a funeral home and conducts multiple services per week at the local cemetery. After our nice trolley ride, we headed to a notorious ice cream shop called Leopold’s. I ordered a very strange-but-actually-good ice cream flavor of Lavender.

I’m glad that I got to try something new in Savannah and had a great time there. On our final day in Charleston, we first went on a horse-drawn tour of the city. At one point in time, Charleston was the 4th biggest city in the United States. However, a fire came through the area and decimated almost 20% of the beautiful city. After the ride concluded, we had a lunch of Empanadas, and Myra and I drank some Boba Milk tea. After then looking at some cool stuff in the market, we had to bolt back to the trailer because the repairman was coming to fix the jack so that we could level and stabilize our RV. That essentially summarises all that we did on our 3-day stay here. On to Atlanta!!! Overall Rating: 8.7/10
