As you’ve seen in previous posts, the presence of family and friends dramatically increases the rating of a location. More on that later. On Wednesday, we met up with Liz, Colin, James, and Liam for one final time. Colin, Myra, and I played some ping pong until it was time for them to leave, so we said goodbye and packed up the trailer to go to Dearborn. The first thing that we did upon arriving was to get the trailer’s inconsistent power sorted out. The man who helped us was very knowledgeable and sorted out a lot of things with Dad. After this, we went to a restaurant called The Rusted Crow. I had some very good broiled fish and some of the best ginger ale that I have ever had. After eating, we went home and went to bed. On the following day, I did school, played some wiffle ball, and waited for the rest of the family to get ready to go to the Henry Ford Museum. The museum was very good, and had a lot more than just cars. It was a whole rundown of American History in every facet. After the museum, we went into Greenfield Village to see the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The performance and food was very good, but the cherry on top was when Aunt Julia, Aunt Cecily, Aunt Karine, Aunt Gillian, and Uncle Tom surprised Mom at the climax of the show for her birthday. After the orchestra finished playing, we went back to our cars, and went home. On the following day, all of the visiting family members came over, and we played some wiffle ball and ate lunch before heading out to the museum again. We started this time with the craft shops in Greenfield Village, which included printing, weaving, and pottery. After learning about the techniques that were used back in the day for these trades, we went and ate lunch. I split a pizza with Aunt Karine, and we continued on our way. Next, was the museum. We looked and read about presidential cars, steam trains, early politics, racial discrimination, civil rights, groundbreaking inventions, and the evolution of the automobile and how Ford contributed to it. We also looked at copious amounts of Hallmark ornaments and found George Washington’s camp bed during the revolutionary war before the museum closed. After this, we went back to the trailer, seasoned our new Blackstone griddle, and made the fixings. It was a good meal, followed by an in-depth conversation on mental health counseling laws. I headed to bed early in order to go golfing with Uncle Tom at 6:30 the next morning. We managed to play 18 holes and be back by 10:00. (Thank you SO SO SO much Uncle Tom :D) After golfing, we went to swim at the hotel, except the pool was absolutely terrible and I separated my toenail and scraped the whole front side of my body. That was all that we did in Dearborn. Thank you for reading. Next: Mackinaw City, MI Overall Rating: 9.0/10.
What a fun and special surprise for your mom’s birthday!!! You can’t abruptly end your post like this Will!!!! Need more details on the pool rash and separated toe nail! 🙂
