Nashville, TN
Our drive to Nashville was not too long which is so nice. It gave us some nice relax time in the evening, enough time to get all the bedding and towels washed!
We got so many brochures recommending Nashville activities. Zina looked at them and found the one for an Escape Game and then just focused on that. But, on Wednesday morning I had scheduled a baptism appointment for David, Myra, & Will at the Nashville temple. I had thought that Zina and I would head out shopping but Zina didn’t want to take an Uber and that was our only transportation option. So, we hung out in the trailer. The rest of the family gave a good report of their time in the temple. I fed everyone lunch and then we went to try out the Escape Game. It was fun to try to work together as a family to solve the problems. But, we weren’t very good at it and had to have a lot of hints. I would like to try it again soon so we can see if we learned anything. It was so late in the day that we needed to grab dinner quickly so we could head to our concert at the Grand Ole Opry.
We should have headed to the concert early because between the time dinner ended (6:40pm) and heading into the concert (6:50pm) there was a DELUGE of rain. We had umbrellas that kept our heads and some of our clothes dry but as we ran into the concert the water was 1-2 inches deep everywhere and our feet got soaked. It made the concert a bit chilly! The concert featured 7 artists or artist groups. The concert was great, the performers very accomplished. When I bought the tickets earlier that day for some reason I thought we should take the after show backstage tour. It was fun so see how the show is put on and to get to stand in the famous Grand Ole Opry stage circle. Not sure the late night tour was worth it when we all got to bed after 11!

Thursday was a torrential downpour all morning! I had intended to get the trolley tour of the city but we didn’t even want to walk out the front door! It finally stopped a little after two and I tried to get our group out the door. We finally were ready to get on the 3:20pm tour. It turns out that after 3:30pm the tour is not allowed to drive through the downtown. This would have been the most interesting part of the tour. The tour driver did warn us of this but I thought the tour would still be worth it. It wasn’t really but we were glad to just relax on the bus for 1.5 hours. After the tour we placed an order for some chicken, fries & texas toast to take to meet my cousin, Jeff Harris, his wife, Hannah, and their kids for a picnic. We ordered it from Zaxby’s. I had had a good experience with them when we were near Atlanta but I would have to say that our experience with the Nashville Zaxby’s was not as positive. We also grabbed some sodas at Walgreens and the picnic was a success. The kids played happily and it was great to become reacquainted with Jeff and get to know Hannah. I am so grateful for family, wherever we can find it.

Love your discoveries of a bit of the Old South. We spent 1.5 years there, (52 years ago in Athens, Alabama,), and learned to enjoy catfish, grocery shopping amidst unfamiliar strange things, air conditioning, and allergy shots. (Milldew allergies.) And Margaret was born across the Tennessee River, in Athens, Decatur. Watch out for the tornados!! We spent a night lying in the central hall of our house, under the mattresses. Many big tornados passed by, but thankfully the little Church and our neighborhood were spared.
BIG HUGS!!! SORRY THAT THERE WERE NO EASTER CARDS THIS YEAR. NO PLACE TO SEND THEM.

I am LOVING following the Jolley adventure! I’m glad you sometimes text me photos–it reminds me to check the blog! What a once in a lifetime, life-changing, memory making experience. You guys are amazing.
Stood in that circle about ten years ago. Not sure the day tour we took was any better than the after show one. Grateful my time in Nashville wasn’t filled with rain but rather sunny days. At least the rain in the south isn’t as cold as the rain in the PNW. Looks like everyone is having a great time all around. Love the updates!
